Focke-Wulf FW 190A-8 Wurger

Military Aviation Museum

The Focke-Wulf Fw 190 is a WWII-era aircraft that formed the backbone of the Luftwaffe’s fighter force. Thanks to its rugged build and stable gun platform, the Fw 190 became the main aircraft used by the Germans to take on the heavily defended American bomber formations.

The Fw 190A series made its debut over France in 1941. All variants of the Fw 190 were used widely across Europe during the war. It served in multiple capacities, including as a day fighter, fighter-bomber, ground-attack aircraft, and night fighter. The pilots who flew the Fw 190s during the war liked the firepower, while others liked the improved performance at low-to-medium altitudes.

The Fw 190 flying in the Columbus Air Show, is from the Military Aviation Museum and is a Flug Werk-built replica.
