Michael Goulian is a multi-disciplined aerial demonstation pilot. Beginning his career in the competitive world of aerobatics, Goulian earned the distinction of becoming one of the youngest pilots to ever win the United States Unlimited Aerobatic Championship at the age of 27. His signature air show performance combines the heart-stopping gyroscopic tumbling of modern display flying with the crisp, aggressive, demands of precision competition aerobatics.
In 2006, Goulian joined an elite group of pilots competing in the Red Bull Air Race World Championship. Competing as Team #99, Goulian and his team are engaged in a battle of technology, skill, and execution against 13 of the world’s fiercest competitors.
Michael performs in air shows in an Extra 330SC, arguably the world’s premiere aerobatic competition and air show plane. When asked about his Extra, Michael will tell you: “this is the best aerobatic airplane I have ever owned”.
Produced by Extra Aircraft of Germany, the 330SC is lighter, faster and more maneuverable than any other aircraft of this type. The main difference between the 330SC and Mike’s former air show plane, the 300SHP, is its wing design. The new wing and increased maneuverability gives Mike’s “SC” an even faster roll rate and gives him the ability to take his air show performance to an even higher level of extreme aerobatics. The Extra tumbles and rotates at awe inspiring rates in almost any attitude, which gives Michael the freedom to use his imagination to create an air show performance that is second to none!
