Experiences
The Columbus Air Show is proud to offer a variety of experiences during the show. This includes the return of our flight experiences, the Experience STEM & Aviation Presented by NetJets, and the CAF Rise Above Tuskegee Airmen/WASP Experience. We also have a new exhibit this year – WWII Base Camp Experience.
Check out each section below to learn more about the different experiences at the Columbus Air Show.
DreamBIG F/A-18 Hornet TOPGUN Maverick Experience
Ever wanted to sit inside the cockpit of an F/A-18 Hornet? Now is your chance! Be sure to stop by the F/A-18 Hornet TOPGUN Maverick Experience at the Columbus Air Show.
Experience STEM & Aviation Presented by NetJets
Learn more about what makes STEM and Aviation so exciting when you visit our amazing STEM & Aviation Presented by NetJets Tent. This area will feature a variety of hands-on activities from local schools and companies that will engage everyone of all ages.
Kidz Zone
Have a young kid who needs to get some extra energy out or just needs a break from all the action? Stop by our Kidz Zone! This area will have a variety of inflatables for kids to jump and slide down.
CAF Rise Above Tuskegee Airmen/WASP Experience
The CAF Rise Above Tuskegee Airmen and WASP Experience takes air show fans back to the past and teaches them about the importance of the Tuskegee Airmen and WASP, and their lasting impact on history. The traveling Rise Above Experience includes the chance to watch two immersive short films about the Tuskegee Airmen and WASP. Air Show fans will also get the chance to see their P-51 Mustang “By Request” up close.
This exhibit is important to us to have at the air show because Lockbourne (now Rickenbacker) had one of the most successful WASP programs during WWII and was the final home to the Tuskegee Airmen before the Air Force fully integrated in 1952.
WWII Base Camp Experience
Experience living history when you take a step into the WWII Base Camp!
Last year, we introduced Battlefield Europe, a reenactment of D-Day. Not only is Battlefield Europe returning this year, but so is their base camp! Each day before the reenactors take to the field, air show fans will get the unique opportunity to take a step back in time when they enter this simulated base camp. Fans will get the chance to see tanks, cars, equipment, and tents up close. You will also get the opportunity to talk to the reenactors to learn more about life in the base camps during WWII.
Flight Experiences
Want to book a ride of a lifetime at the 2025 Columbus Air Show? Now’s your chance!
During the 2025 Columbus Air Show, air show fans will get the unique opportunity to book ride in the Michigan Flight Museum’s B-25 “Rosie’s Reply” AND/OR the UH-1 Huey Greyhound!
This is an incredibly rare opportunity as there are less than 50 B-25s flying today, and even fewer with documented combat history.
U.S. Air Force Rock Band of Flight
Stop by and enjoy a tune or two with the U.S. Air Force Rock Band of Flight! The band is based at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio. They are a 17-member organization that features 2 musical groups.
Flight One is the popular music group and Wright Brass is a brass ensemble with a percussionist and vocalist. Periodically, these groups combine to form the expanded Band of Flight.
U.S. Navy Honor Guard Rifle Formation Team
Experience the precision of the U.S. Navy Honor Guard Rifle Formation Team firsthand at the Air Show. The team uses the standard 1903 Springfield rifle with 10″ fixed bayonet, and follows a longstanding tradition of Naval service by conducting a 4-man routine and a 9-man routine. The complex drill block performed by the Drill Team features marching and arms presentations, executed with single precision motion, as well as staggering aerial maneuvers.
These manuals demonstrate the strict military order and professionalism, combined with teamwork that the Drill Team members must possess in order to perform their disciplined routine.
Howard Mincone
Now you see it, now you don’t! Add some magic (literally) to your day by catching Howard Mincone in action as he strolls around the Air Show.
SupaFun Band
Marching their way into Rickenbacker is the SupaFun Band! This band takes excitement and fun to a new level with their high-energy performances.
Ladies for Liberty
This group of talented singers spreads patriotism wherever they go with renditions of classic patriotic songs from the 40s, 50s, and 60s. Fans can catch them strolling around the Columbus Air Show Aug. 22-24. So, if you see them as you explore the ground displays, be sure to stop and listen.
