Volunteer at the Air Show
We often talk about how we have the best volunteers, and it’s really because we do! Their teamwork and dedication are out of this world! Our volunteers help shape the Columbus Air Show every year. We couldn’t do it without them!
To build up a team this amazing, it takes an incredible leader, which is why for this newsletter, we caught up with our Volunteer Coordinator, Jenny, who has been with us since the beginning!

How did you get involved with air shows? And how did you get involved with the Columbus Air Show as the volunteer coordinator?
We have friends that are involved in air shows, and for years I heard them talk about their experiences. We had been to Thunder Over Michigan a few times and really enjoyed it.
There’s just something about the roar of the planes that gets me every time!
So, when I was asked to be the Volunteer Coordinator for the revival of the Columbus Air Show, I jumped at the opportunity. I love working with people and organizing events, so it was the perfect combination of things I enjoy.
What is your favorite volunteer moment from the Columbus Air Show?
I think my favorite moment happens each year, usually at the volunteer meeting. It’s when I start seeing people I haven’t seen in a year, and it’s like catching up with old friends!
We’ve built an incredible team of people (almost 700 volunteers in 2026!) who genuinely love serving our guests and enjoy spending time together. Each year, more and more volunteers get to know each other and get to reconnect with familiar faces.
What’s your favorite part of working with Columbus Air Show volunteers?
I love creating opportunities for people to serve, have fun, and be part of something bigger than themselves. Building a strong culture within our volunteer team is really important to me.
We’ve even had parents ask if their children can come and volunteer, and I love seeing kids and teenagers learn the value of giving their time and serving others. It’s about so much more than putting people in positions to help run an event; it’s about creating an experience they enjoy being part of!
How is volunteer planning for the 2027 Columbus Air Show coming along? When can volunteers expect an update?
We are EXCITED for 2027!
The Blue Angels will be back and we can’t wait! One of the ways I like to recognize and appreciate our returning volunteers is by giving them the first opportunity to sign up. I’ll send an email letting them know when the registration website will open in January.
It’s not unusual for 150–200 volunteers to sign up on the very first day! That’s a pretty good indication of how much this team loves being part of the Columbus Air Show.
I can’t wait to see everyone again in 2027!
If you’re interested in joining the team, check out the volunteer page, fill out the form and be part of the excitement next summer.
