UH-1H Greyhound
The Michigan’s Flight Museum’s Huey helicopter was purchased by the U.S. Army in 1967. It served from Oct. 1967 to Dec. 1971 and spent much of its time in Vietnam. It served with the 240 th Assault Helicopter Company, known as the “Greyhounds, Mad Dogs, and Kennel Keepers.”
Greyhound returned to the United States in 1972 and spent the next several years at different bases before being dropped from the Army’s inventory. During its civilian life, it was owned by various law enforcement units and private owners. It was eventually purchased by Northwest Helicopers, LLC of Olympia, WA. They rebuilt this helicopter and gave it the Greyhound paint scheme and logo to honor it’s service and all those who served on it in Vietnam.
The Michigan Flight Musuem got Greyhound in Sept. 2019 and it began flying Air Adventures in 2020.
